Who We Are

Our History

The Boston International Christian Church (BICC), or the “Boston Disciples” for short, was planted in 2012 by the International Christian Churches (ICC). The ICC is a global church family with a vision of restoring biblical Christianity and taking the gospel to all nations in this generation. We are a family of Christian churches whose members are committed to living their lives in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the Bible. We read and strive to abide by the entire Bible and hold it to be inspired and inerrant. We expect every member to be a disciple of Christ as defined in his teachings. The ICC was formed when members a group of churches called the International Church of Christ (ICOC) separated from the ICOC, not believing they were a healthy place to worship nor holding to the teachings of the Bible. Therefore, we are in no way affiliated with the International Church of Christ (ICOC). In 2006 the International Christian Church (Sold-out Discipling Movement) began from a handful of 25 members in Portland, Oregon, and now numbers thousands on every populated continent of the world. To read more about the incredible history of these movements, you can purchase Ron Harding’s “The Untold Story: Chronicles of Modern-day Christianity” by clicking the title.

The ICC was built on the revolutionary and biblical conviction that every person must first decide to become a disciple and then be baptized. The Biblical Greek word for church is “ecclesia,” which means “the called out.” Today we are an international family of churches that is rapidly spreading to all nations around the world. We have been called out from religious mediocrity, spiritual error, atheism, and agnosticism — into a meaningful, vibrant relationship with God. Our congregations now reflect the diversity of the cities and nations where we have planted churches. Worldwide, people of all races, ages, and cultures attend our worship services weekly. These services are true celebrations, for the life of a disciple of Christ is the most joyful one we know. Truly, it is as Jesus said, “life to the full!” (John 10:10)

What We Believe

The Boston International Christian Church does not have an official creed or doctrinal statement other than the Bible, and thus in the truest sense, we are “non-denominational.” We are striving to be disciples of Jesus Christ only while restoring biblical Christianity. The following should be seen as a very brief overview of core doctrinal tenets of Christianity as well as a few distinguishing convictions of our congregation:

  • One true God reveals Himself to the world in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
  • Jesus, the Son of God, is our one and only Lord and Savior, crucified for our sins and physically resurrected from the dead on the third day. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 15)
  • The Bible is the only written message of God inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error. (2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
  • We are a Bible Church and believe we should “be silent where the Bible speaks, and speak where the Bible is silent.” In applying scriptural principles to build the visible church, we must obey God’s word, but we are free to use our God-given creativity where the Bible does not prohibit a practice or name.(Genesis 2:19; 1 Corinthians 10:23)
  • A person is saved by the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ, and a person must, through faith and obedience, reach out to receive this free gift of salvation. (Ephesians 1:1-10; James 2:14-26)
  • As with the first Christians, when a person repents and is baptized, their sins are forgiven, and the Holy Spirit works in their life. (Acts 2:36-41; Romans 8:5-11)
  • Only baptized disciples are members of Christ’s church. The church is thus composed of sold-out disciples (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Matthew 13:44-45; Luke 14:33)
  • After baptism, every new Christian needs to be taught or “discipled” by another Christian to obey all of Jesus’ teachings (Matthew 28:20; Luke 6:40).
  • We believe in Central Leadership. Throughout God’s word, when his people were unified, there was strong central leadership and godly central leader. (Examples: Moses, Joshua, David, and of course Jesus and the Apostles). Local congregations in the New Testament had overseeing evangelists, who unified the disciples “everywhere in every church.” In the first century, congregations were a collective movement- not autonomous, not self-governing. Thus, our congregation willingly is a member of the International Christian Churches (Sold-out Discipling Movement). (Acts 15; 1 Corinthians 4:15-17; Titus 1:5)
  • Every disciple must be committed to the vision of making disciples of all nations. The church is to evangelize the nations in one generation. (Mathew 28:18-20; Colossians 1:23)
