2018 BICC Goals

“The LORD our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and ADVANCE into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates.” Deuteronomy 1:6-7 ‬‬‬‬

God’s people had been miraculously delivered from bondage to the Egyptians! His plan was to bring his chosen people into the Promise Land and form the nation of Israel that would be a light for all nations. This nation’s laws were given at Mount Sinai and the only thing that could hold the Israelites back was their disobedience. They wandered in the desert for forty years because of rebellion and sin. Now Moses addresses them in Deuteronomy 1:6-8 at the end of the forty years of unnecessary wandering in the desert. God made it clear that he was with his people with the defeat of Sihon the King of the Amorites, and Og the King of Bashan (Numbers 21:32-35). Moses must remind this next generation that would inherit the land of the laws their parents heard him recite prior.

Before moving onto 2018, we cannot forget the mighty miracles Jesus did through the Boston church. We saw 8 restored to Christ, 7 placed membership with us, and 70 baptized into Christ, making 85 additions in 2017! By God’s grace, we were one of the fastest growing churches in our World Sector (South Asia, Gulf, Eastern States). Starting off the year we kicked off three House Churches (North, Campus, and South), and ended the year with six (North, Campus, Central, Worcester, South, and New Hampshire)! Our Kids Kingdom ministry has been transformed and we celebrated the first of many Kids Kingdom Services thanks to the Dawsons and Wendy LeCat. Our campus ministry has taken off with conversions at top colleges such as Boston University and Harvard. Our congregation helped clean up Camp Hale on the Day of MERCY and volunteers continually go to help out at St. Francis. We also sent off 5 to join the mission team that planted the Miami Ft. Lauderdale International Christian Church. To end the year, we sent off Rafael and Melissa Jerez who valiantly lead our South House Church to lead the Syracuse International Christian Church and Peter and Jessica Markarian who built a powerful ministry at Boston University to lead their campus ministry. What will God do in 2018?

The church has stayed at 95-100 members for the last few months. As God told his people through Moses, “you have stayed here long enough…break camp and ADVANCE.” Advancing by Grace is the theme of 2018. God has put on the heart of the leadership here in the church these collective goals for this new year:

  1. Advance in our numbers. We believe the church can grow to 200 sold-out disciples. Part of accomplishing this goal will be to establish a thriving Teen Ministry with weekly teen devotionals and a spanish speaking ministry with a weekly Bible Talk.
  2. Advance in geography. We believe the church can grow to four regions all with full-time ministry leaders spanning over the Boston area (North, South, Central, Campus, and Manchester, New Hampshire).
  3. Advance in maturity. We desire to appoint shepherds in the church to help oversee and direct the affairs of the church with a specific focus on keeping the disciples faithful to God. This year we believe by faith God will help us establish an active Chemical Recovery Ministry to help those overcoming addiction and a life recovery ministry titled “Breakthrough” to help with character, past trauma, and destroying spiritual and mental strongholds.
  4. Advance in leadership. By faith we believe four new House Church Leaders and 10 new Bible Talk Leaders can be appointed. We want to appoint deacons to recognize the works of service done in the congregation. We also want to be able to appoint an Evangelist and Women’s Ministry Leader out of the Boston family of churches.
  5. Advance in global vision. We believe we can see 50% of the church attend the Global Leadership Conference in Los Angeles this year.
  6. Advance in recovery. We desire to have a powerful and active Chemical Recovery Ministry.
  7. Advance on campus. We believe we can see a Campus Ministry of 50 students with thriving ministries on all the major colleges in the New England Revolution plan.
  8. Advance in our financial sacrifice. Lord willing, we will begin a Financial Shepherding Team that helps each individual member excel in their life financially (quarterly workshops on budgeting, resume, etc.) and be able to give more to God in their weekly contribution.
  9. Advance in knowledge. This December we plan to have the first ICCM Boston Class ready to graduate. We will also continue to build our Lion’s Den Fraternity to raise up a second tier of leadership in the church.
  10. Advance in MERCY. We want to establish the first ever MERCY Bible Talk that evangelizes through community service.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:9-8, For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them- yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” To accomplish these goals, it will take every member of the congregation to work hard to advance spiritually. Paul understood that it was only the grace of God that motivated him to work hard for God. As we advance in grace, we understand how much God saved us from and this lights an internal fire to work hard for our God. Please post these goals around your house, or on your refrigerator, and pray for them every week. Not only does God intend for his church to advance, but he wants you to also advance as an individual. What are your 2018 spiritual goals? What could God do in your life if you decided to advance by his grace? Let’s commit these plans to God and collectively watch our Father work incredible miracles in the year of Advancing by Grace!
